ARTIST BIO

Hailing from beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, edgy Contemporary Artist/Photographer Ron Sombilon’s paintings and photography are reaching serious private and corporate collections worldwide. Through an extensive list of Exhibitions he has enjoyed sharing his unique style which fuses photography with 2D Drawing delicately blended with traditional and modern hand painting techniques. His experience in the animation industry for over 12 years has honed his abilities to employ New Media in his body of work. His versatility has allowed him to experiment with a plethora of mediums from Canvas to fine Metallic prints of archival quality.

Ron has realized that his capacity for creativity and innovation translates to his making positive changes to people’s lives and to the world. His mother Laura, a nurse by profession, who was passionate about healing people, was tragically taken from him in his early twenties, a victim of Breast Cancer. Ron and his brother Gerald were inspired by her legacy when in honoring her life in a eulogy, in the presence of a crowd of mourners sizeable enough to block out the sun, they began to appreciate the impact that she had on those that had crossed her path and came to comprehend the difference that one person can make in the lives of so many others.

The worth of one’s inspiration is beyond measure. It is breathed in, absorbed, and with luck, passionately driven out through Artistic expression. Ron’s philosophy is that Art is an intimate and perpetual experience that should serve as a daily necessity. It is not a specimen merely set out in an exhibition, rather a means of reflecting your own perception. Like reading, Art is a personal experience. You take in the information and go at your own pace; coming to your own conclusions as you are drawn in and develop a meaningful connection with the work.
